Henry J. Carroll founded Carroll Tree Service in 1950. He sincerely believed in delivering excellent customer service and superior workmanship to his customers. Hank was a true gentleman, and he gained the trust of many home owners and built a solid reputation for the company. As a businessman, he was always honest, polite, and respectful to his clients and employees. Hank passed away in the summer of 1987, but his work philosophy still remains today.
During the late eighties, Carroll Tree Service had only a few dump trucks and chippers. Twenty five years later, we have top-of the line equipment and a fleet of over 50 trucks. By far, the most valuable asset to Carroll Tree Service is a team of more than 50 well-trained professional employees. Papo Rosado and Dave Holyfield have been with the company for over 30 years. Our staff includes, one ASCA registered consulting arborist, three NCCCO certified crane operators, two TCIA certified tree care safety professionals, three Maryland licensed pesticide applicators, eight Maryland licensed tree experts, and thirteen ISA certified arborists. All credentialed personnel at Carroll Tree Service are actively involved in the Maryland Arborist Association, the International Society of Arboriculture and the Tree Care Industry Association.
Carroll Tree Service has become one of the oldest, most respected tree companies in the Baltimore area. We are confident in the future of the company. In January 2006, Steve Mays Sr became the president of Carroll Tree Service. In January 2016, Steve Sr became majority owner and was joined in ownership by four of his sons: Steve Jr, Sam, Luke, and Hank. His three younger children: Emily, Gus, and Eli are also full-time employees of Carroll Tree Service. In 2022, Steve Mays Sr sold his majority share to his four sons, but remains intricately involved with daily operations.
More than sixty five years have passed since Hank Carroll began building the foundation for Carroll Tree Service, but the company continues to be committed to his philosophy of delivering the highest quality of professional tree work possible.
